In 2000, I co-wrote a report with Andrew Wheat for Texans for Public Justice that compared Texas to the rest of the country. We used 150 statistical indicators on Environment, Education, Human Services, the Economy, Public Safety, and Democracy to show that Texas rated poorly when lined up with other U.S. states.
Now a quarter of a century later, it is likely that many of these low rankings have made little progress.
